Welcome Father Rajan Sengol as Saint Raphael's new Associate Pastor!

“Welcome to God’s Country” was the response when I called Msgr. Jon and introduced that I am Fr. Rajan Sengol from St. Stephen Martyr Church, Monterey Park. “When were you Ordained?” asked Msgr. Jon. I answered that I was Ordained on 5th May, 1985 and he said that just one year after me. In these 34 years of my Priesthood, I served 12 years teaching in the School as Principal and Administrator and Pastor in a parish. 4 years as Director of the Diocesan Pastoral Center in my Diocese of Ahmedabad in Gujarat State, North India. 3years in Manila Philippines Pastoral renewal and Counseling studies. One-year Parish work at St. Gabriel Church, South Harrow London. 10 months at St Stephen Church, North Vancouver, Canada. Now 12 years in this country in eleven parishes from 2 months duration to 6 years. I was with Fr. Vaughn Winters at St John Neumann, Santa Maria more than a year and again 6 years at St. Mary’s Church, Palmdale.

My Birthday is 15 March 1956. I am 64 and I was ordained at the age of 30. I am originally from South India closer to Sri Lanka and I opted for the North India Diocese Ahmedabad in Gujarat, as a missionary priest to work among the Non-Christian majority closer to Pakistan. From my diocese to my home, it takes 3 days to travel by Train. Therefore, I miss my family and relatives even in India. I do not have any family or relatives here in America. As I know, once if you give up your one family, God gives hundreds of families. I very happy with lots of Friends and Families all over, where ever I served. Now I am happy to be a citizen in this country.

Our main mission in North India is to serve the people in the field of Education and Health and mainly to make known Christ’s Value as an evangelization. India is a very huge sub-continent with multiple languages and religions and traditions and cultures. Christianity in India is very ancient. St Thomas the Apostle of Jesus travel to India to preach the Good News of Jesus. St. Francis Xavier, who preached the Gospel in Asia, his body is in Goa, one of the States in India. In south India, St. John De Brito was beheaded and the soil where his head was rolled become red sand. There are eleven religions in India and nine religions originated in India and rest Christianity, Jewish and Islam in Asia and the western world spread the Christianity. Every religion is very ancient in India, comparing to other religions in the world.

I am very happy to be here, at St. Rapheal Church with Msgr. Jon and with this Community. I am very much interested to meet and talk to people who really want to talk to a priest of their life situations and need of spiritual direction and to give my blessings. I will try my best to be available for your Spiritual and Pastoral needs at any time. I am your Priest as long as I am here. You can call me Fr. Rajan or Fr. Raj as you wish. My Full Name is Fr. Rajan A. Sengol. Please support your Priests and talk well about the Priests to your Children. Together we save our children from any abuse. The Children must hear well about the priests so that that would help them to make decision to serve as a priest, Nun, or Deacon to the Faith Community. Even if the Children do not become one but will grow as a responsible person, hearing the wellness of the priests. Priests are the one, dedicated in leading and building the Faith Community and our Families. God bless YOU ALL.

Fr. Rajan Sengol.
